Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team Malta was officially established in February 2010, although it has been around as a submission grappling club since 2008. It is the first club in Malta specialising in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where students can learn and train Jiu-Jitsu for competition, self-defence, fitness and as a way of life. The Team was established by Keith Darmanin, who has been training martial arts for over 20 years. He is the first ever Maltese to be promoted in BJJ and is currently a Brown Belt under Master Rogerio Olegario (Black Belt under Professor Osvaldo Alves). BJJ Team Malta was the first club from Malta to compete & win medals in international BJJ competitions such as the prestigious IBJJF European Open, European No-Gi & ADCC trials.
